Classic music that my kids like too!

Reviewed by K. Goyette, 2010-01-20

My son had heard the song "Betty Davis Eyes" on YouTube as someone was drawing a picture of Betty Davis using mascara wands. He really liked the song. It's funny how we grow up with a certain song or artist and then our kids find out about it and they like it too. So I got him this album for Christmas because it had the songs I recognized the most and also his favorite "Betty Davis Eyes" on it. Nice album--brings back memories! The Mistaken Identity Collectionalso look atThe Best of Kim Carnesand maybe check out:Gypsy Honeymoon: The Best of Kim Carnes

Kim Carnes Collection Requires 2-discs

The sound quality is excellent. The disc has taken full advantage of the CD medium withouth destroying the music my compressing it too much or making it too loud. There is plenty of musicality and dynamic range.

I dropped it one star only because they couldn't fit all the other great songs from Kim Carnes on it. For example:

Make No Mistake, He's Mine (duet with Barbara Streisand)
Rough Edges
It Hurts So Bad
Chain Letter

Basically if you combine this disc with the Gypsy Honeymoon The Best Of Kim Carnes disc you would have a winner.

My favorite song on his disc by far is "Miss You Tonight". I also like "Mistaken Identity", "Still Hold On", "More Love", and the dance tune "Invisible Hands".

Overall I highly recommend this disc. To complete the collection consider adding the Gypsy Honeymoon disc. Though you will get some duplicate tunes, the combination of the two give you pretty much all the significant highlights of her career.

Beautiful music albeit dated!

I initially heard this album about 29 years ago and I had even managed to buy the LP version of it. With the passage of time, that album developed clicks , pops and worse, one number (the title song, no less!) had become un-playable. The CD was a blessing in disguise.
As far as the music is concerned, well it is music of the 80s, but so what? Most of the numbers are a delight to hear. May not appeal to all especially today's generation!

This album was a breath of musical fresh air...

At the time, this album was a breath of fresh air...very different and daring in a lot of ways. If you love Kim's singing and songwriting, then check out her recent CD "Chasing Wild Trains" which is perhaps my favorite.
